BIRTH AND DEATH RECORDS
Wyoming began recording births and deaths in 1909. Although very few birth and death records were kept at the county level prior to that time, please contact the County Clerk in the appropriate county. For birth and death records beginning in July 1909 and marriage records from May 1941, contact:
Wyoming Department of Health
Division of Public Health, Vital Records Service
Cheyenne, WY 82002
Please note on their website that only certain individuals are able to acquire these records.
Earlier marriages were recorded by the County Clerk in the county where the license was issued. All Wyoming marriage records from 1869 to 1970 are available from the Wyoming State Archives and Historical Department for all Wyoming counties.
All Laramie County marriage records from 1868 are located in the Laramie County Clerk's office, as well as the Wyoming State Archives, and the Genealogy Department at the Laramie County Library. An alpha Bride and Groom list for marriage licenses issued from 1868 to 1906 is located here.
The Laramie County Library System has copies of obituaries published in Laramie County newspapers beginning in 1950. The Wyoming State Archives has microfilm of various Wyoming local newspapers dating back to 1868.
This website now contains obituaries and, for some years, information relating to births, marriages, and anniversaries that were published in the major newspapers of Laramie County. Further information is here.
